Meet
Dr. Wood
Dr. Susan Wood is a knowledgeable and compassionate endodontist, who after practicing in Colorado for seven years and Paradise Valley for ten years, is excited about her new opportunities in the North Scottsdale area. Born and raised on the east coast of Florida, she moved to Colorado after college, to race mountain bikes professionally for five years before resuming her education. During college and while in Colorado, Dr. Wood worked as a dental assistant in general, pediatric, and endodontic offices to gain experience, prior to attending the University of Colorado School of Dentistry. Once her clinical rotations began, she quickly found her passion and in 2005, earned a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Endodontics from Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Wood continued her commitment to the specialty of endodontics by completing the written, oral and case requirements of the American Board of Endodontics to become Board Certified in 2010, while also maintaining a full-time private practice, teaching part-time at her alma mater, and celebrating the birth of her son, Oliver. She has published multiple peer-reviewed articles and was a scientific reviewer for the Journal of Endodontics.
Because of her dedication to dentistry and the field of endodontics, she has been a member of numerous boards and committees within the American Association of Endodontists and the Foundation for Endodontics. Her desire to promote organized dentistry for the good of her fellow dentists, and more importantly, for the oral health and safety of patients, prompted her eight-year position as a board member of the American Dental Association’s Political Action Committee and locally as a current board member of Arizona’s Dental Political Action Committee. She is an active member of the American Dental Association, Arizona Dental Association, Central Arizona Dental Society, American Association of Endodontists, and the International College of Dentists.
When not attending to her professional responsibilities, Dr. Wood enjoys traveling with her son and spending time outdoors with him and their German Shepherd, Soldier.
